Resting is serious business. You don’t skip your Sundays, no sir. There’s a paper to read and a breathtaking view to observe. Lean back and get your feet up. Dutch Designer Ineke Hans reinterpreted the classic settle, a wood sofa that was used in the kitchen to have a nap between chores
The Outport Aesthetic was playful and expressive and economical with materials. An old spindle from a chair or banister could have been cut in half and applied to a dresser as a decorative element. Get Your Feet Up reinterprets historic Newfoundland outport furniture for the modern context within Fogo Island Inn.
Made using regionally sourced birch by our craftspeople at Fogo Island Workshops. Available in a range of finishes including hand-buffed Danish Oil, which deepens the amber colour of the wood, and White Oil, which neutralizes the amber tone for a raw matte look. Both absorb into the wood and richen the grain. A variety of coloured lacquers are available.
The optional, down-filled cushions use knitting patterns and techniques that were traditionally used to make insulated mittens and socks. This creates a seat as warm and steadfast as the knitter who made it.
