S.U.F. Hall
The S.U.F. Hall was built in 1909, in the community of Barr’d Islands, as the home of a fraternal organization called the Society of United Fisherman. The organization provided fellowship and established a mutual support system for its members at a time when there were few services available for fishermen and their families.
The hall exemplified a true community space over the years as it hosted weddings, dances, concerts, church services, and even an arcade. In 2016, Shorefast completed an extensive transformation of both the interior and exterior of the S.U.F. Hall.
Now, the hall serves as a reflection to Fogo Island’s continuing adaptation to modernity. The hall is home to the woodshop of Fogo Island Workshops, where you can find our production team.
