Inspiration

This beautifully simple cushion is a faithful reproduction of a traditional design by Fogo Islander Elizabeth Ford originally knit over 50 years ago. Designed in collaboration between local artisans Margaret Freake, Millicent Dwyer and Violet Combden for the Fogo Island Inn.

Fabrication

Resourcefulness is in the DNA of Fogo Islanders, and this is reflected in our textile pieces: With remarkable ingenuity, our makers create colourful snake cushions from ends of wool yarn. the Snake Cushion is handmade using the tiniest scraps of yarn.
