Wallpaper first had a purely utilitarian purpose and was employed to ward off the chill in uninsulated homes. It has since evolved to be an expression of personal taste and aesthetics, as well as for some Newfoundlanders, a cultural emblem and source of comfort. That’s why wallpaper was so integral in the design scheme for Fogo Island Inn.

Fogo Island Inn Design Strategist, Ernst Hupel, has reimagined the Fogo Island Inn designs with British partner, Christopher Farr Cloth. Their kinship in preserving the craft and culture of the past in new forms, while supporting local and ethical production at the highest quality made them a natural collaborator.
