Doorstops are simple inventions with a purpose universally understood and respected; we’re not presumptuous enough to believe that we can add all that much utility to an item that already holds its own against innovations as ubiquitous as sliced bread and the wheel. That being said, we knew we could add something to these little wonders. We knew we could use design as a tool to convey a sense of place, and we also knew we could inject our signature dose of colour and fun into a piece that isn’t normally meant to catch the eye.
Designed by UK-based designer Nina Tolstrup, our doorstop design use off-cuts of rigorous yellow birch from existing items we produce. Cut freehand on the bandsaw, the shape resembles the profile of a traditional saltbox house and features a leather cord which is often used to hang the doorstop when not in use.
