Inspiration

Cod has been a sustaining force for generations of Newfoundlanders. The process of “making fish” involves salting, rinsing, and drying cod to keep it preserved safely for months after catching it.

Designed by Newfoundlander Nick Herder, Make Fish is a tribute to the noble cod, embodying the connection between Fogo Islanders and the essential role played by the cod in our lives. This design features intricate details and a history brought to life.

Fabrication

Make Fish is digitally printed by our partner, Christopher Farr Cloth to capture the intricate pattern and layered colours. Using the most environmentally friendly water-based ink system available, Christopher Farr Cloth marries low-waste modern production methods with the highest quality materials. These non-woven wallpapers are certified FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) and are sourced responsibly from suppliers that are environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial, and economically viable.
